EBR ESA Instructed person

This course follows the latest EBR ESA requirements and prepares participants to work safely in accordance with the Swedish electrical safety instructions (ESA).

Typical examples of non-electrical work include construction work, excavation, painting, cleaning, maintenance, landscaping, fencing, inspections and other tasks performed inside or close to electrical installations.

The course combines theory with practical examples and concludes with a mandatory knowledge assessment.

Who should attend?

This course is intended for personnel who are not electrically skilled but need to perform non-electrical work within or near electrical installations, including:

• Construction and civil engineering personnel
• Excavation and ground workers
• Maintenance and cleaning personnel
• Contractors and subcontractors
• Inspectors and support personnel
• Anyone requiring access to electrical installations without performing electrical work

Learning objectives

After successfully completing the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand the hazards associated with electrical current.
• Recognise electrical risks in the workplace.
• Understand roles, responsibilities and safety requirements according to Swedish electrical safety legislation and ESA.
• Apply relevant ESA functions and safe working procedures.
• Understand risk assessment and risk management principles.
• Understand minimum safe approach distances.
• Identify what constitutes non-electrical work.
• Understand and use the ESA Access Agreement documentation.
• Perform non-electrical work safely near electrical installations.
• Communicate effectively using ESA terminology and procedures.

Course format

The course is delivered by experienced instructors with extensive industry knowledge and practical experience.

Training can be provided:

• At one of LAVI gruppen’s training centres
• At the customer’s premises
• Live online (where applicable)

Participants receive digital course material and complete a final examination at the end of the training.

Certification

Participants who successfully complete the course and pass the final assessment receive an EBR ESA Instructed Person certificate issued in accordance with the requirements of Energiföretagen Sverige.

The certificate is valid for three (3) years, after which refresher training is required.
